In many tribal settlements across rural Tamil Nadu, families live in modest huts and their bathrooms are often makeshift structures built from thatch roofs, sarees and tarpaulins.. While these homes reflect resilience, one essential need remains unmet for many households - a safe and private bathroom. For women and girls, the absence of bathrooms and toilets is more than an inconvenience. It affects health, safety, dignity, mobility and daily work. Bathing spaces are crucial for menstrual hygiene, reducing stigma and allowing women to carry on daily life without fear or discomfort. In remote villages, where walking to isolated spots is the only option, the risks increase, especially after dark.

Aid India, with support from the Radiant Foundation, is constructing bathrooms and toilets for these families. Making bathing rooms a standard amenity in rural households is a vital step toward improving the safety, dignity and overall quality of life for women in these remote villages.
Who Your Support Will Reach

Poonimangadu (Tiruvallur District) - A small, remote Irular village located about 50 km from Tiruvallur town, where 10 families are in need of proper bathrooms and toilets.

Ponpadi (Thiruvazhangadu Block, Tiruvallur District) - A neighbouring Irular village where 8 families still lack safe, functional bathrooms and toilets.
Our goal is to raise $ 12,000 to build bathroom and toilet units for the families most in need, ensuring that dignity, safety and comfort become a part of their daily lives. Your support, whether large or small, can help ensure that essential amenities become a standard in these remote communities, not a privilege.
