Networking & Community Building

In many rural and tribal regions of Tamil Nadu, young girls face significant barriers in continuing their education. Schools and colleges are often more than five kilometers away, and reliable public transport is limited or unavailable. As a result, daily travel becomes difficult and unsafe, leading to irregular attendance and, in many cases, students dropping out after middle school. Most of these girls are the first generation leaners, and the absence of a safe and consistent way to reach school becomes a major obstacle in their learning journey.

Through the Eureka You Go Girl Cycle Campaign, supported by Radiant Foundation, bicycles were provided to 150 school & college going girls in remote villages across Tamil Nadu. This initiative gives them a dependable mode of transport every day. For students who once spent long hours walking or waiting for uncertain bus services, owning a cycle has brought a sense of freedom, confidence, and dignity. It has enabled them to attend school regularly, stay focused on their studies, and continue their path toward higher education. This simple intervention is creating meaningful and lasting impact, ensuring that distance and safety are no longer barriers to a girl’s right to learn, grow, and achieve her dreams.

Each bicycle has a story
Behind every ride is a child’s journey towards hope and opportunity. From young girls who can now reach school safely to those who can dream of becoming teachers, doctors, athletes, and changemakers, every bicycle represents a step closer to their aspirations.

Here are a few stories from the field:

  • Monisha and Sarina can now travel comfortably to school and return home safely before dark, easing their parents’ concerns.

  • Senbagam and Darshini can finally attend their morning classes on time as their bicycles have cut down long and tiring walks.

  • Kaviya, who lives on a hill, learned to ride her new cycle with her brothers’ help and proudly cycles to school every day.

  • Bhavatharini, who lost her parents and lives with her grandparents, can now reach school on time and also take her grandmother along on her cycle.

  • Thanushka and Abisha dream of becoming doctors and nurses to serve their communities. With their bicycles, they can now attend school regularly and work towards their goals.

  • Deepa and Yogapriya, talented athletes, can spend more time training after school and still reach home safely.

  • Poovarasi, a class 10 student and the eldest of four siblings, hopes to be the first college graduate in her family. Her new cycle gives her the time and energy to study longer.

  • Neshika dreams of leading Team India someday. Her determination shines through in everything she does, from academics to sports.

  • Abinaya and Thendral, who love teaching and learning, are inspired to become educators themselves. Thendral even hopes to become a Eureka Tuition Teacher in her village one day.

  • Sashmitha helps her mother sell flowers after school. With her new cycle, she can manage both school and work more easily and even cycle her mother to work when needed.

  • Yazhini, Sadhana and Devasri can now cycle to school together, making the long walk easier and school days brighter.

  • Varshinika proudly uses her bicycle to take her brother to school and help her mother reach work, small acts that make a big difference in her family’s life.

These are just a few among many stories of courage and determination.
